Firefox 3

Yesterday saw the worldwide release of the browser Mozilla Firefox 3 in the so-called Download Day 2008 with which also aimed to break the world record for downloads exceeding 5,000,000 downloads in one day, make your own conclusions watching the real-time counter . For now, when 20:34 Spanish time, carry more than 8,000,000 and up, considering that the downloads were available from 19:00 Spanish time of 6.17.08.

As was natural, it was naturally good, as if you organize something of this caliber, you must be prepared for it, Mozilla servers could not withstand this onslaught of downloads and were offline a while, but hey, it's a mere anecdote, and you can download Firefox 3 without problems for different platforms (Castilian versions):

Perhaps, "the glue" that more may annoy the upgrade previous versions of Firefox to 3 may be that some extensions you use, stop work temporarily until they are updated, although it can be used, this trick (via Microsiervos) for does not happen. I'm not going to do, since only one extension fails me all I use, and I is a must, so not bad did I not. But beware, the use of this trick is at your own risk, because as they say in the post: "With this Firefox will check if the installed extensions are compatible with the version that is running, but beware, this can make Firefox do strange things, so use at your own risk. If you have many extensions installed, it is better than uninstall them and go slowly adding up to see that everything goes well. "

Still, worth changing to the new version as it is much faster, improved memory management and use, provides greater performance and add new features, but since they are enough, maybe it's better that you see them on the page Mozilla (Firefox Development Company).

And finally, if it is the first time I hear about this browser, personally I would recommend you give him a chance and could prove it, :-) , I did, and since I have not use another browser.

Be happy

Never knew there was new version of Firefox, I do not understand is that you have to download a file and install it, it would be logical that firefox itself tell you that a new version is available and update on the spot without having to do anything else. I for now, today, I still can not install, tomorrow another rooster crow. Greetings.

@ Miguel Daza: Man, I see normal to have to download a new version, and that has nothing to do with the previous Firefox. One thing is that at 2, yes I had automatic updates, but because they were new versions of the same version 2.0.0.x but in this case is a "new program" with a different operational architecture and version 2, so it is not enough to automatically update. I know that does not express well what I mean, but I'm not an expert, lol, however, I think I know what I mean.

You've expressed and understood perfectly what you meant, however, I am too lazy, but hey, it will not take much to download and install. By the way, talk about improvements and speed and such, but I wonder if that's what he says about his new Mozilla Firefox or if what you say once used by you. Imagine also having to export the favorites and not to lose the sage has not.

Yes, I have it installed and the truth is going much faster than the 2 going perfectly, except for an extension, but hey, I used the main function, which only fails December 1 is not bad. The favorites, and the Sage RSS and settings you had saved in Firefox, however, it would not hurt that will save before just in case, is a second and you will avoid major mishaps, :-).

I'm with Daza, that of having to download software and install it by hand is a pain. To me I now only : P In less than 24 hours and was in the ubuntu repositories.

@ Miguel Daza: In line with my previous post I commented that if you get Firefox 3, although SAGE is a version compatible with Firefox 3 and it works, I personally did strange things, which I told you of the RSS was the fault of SAGE, so I've put the extension Sage too which is identical to SAGE, in fact you see that the name is similar, since it is an evolution of SAGE extension, and I have no problems with the feed of some blogs, as I ran with the other. What if you have to do, then, is to export your list of feeds, because you have to import it after the new (apart, that although did not have to, it is always advisable to exports, which costs little and is useful).
