Castillo Cervera del Rio Alhama

And since I started writing again, posting pictures, so we will continue, and it had long been wanting to post some pictures of my people, Cervera del Rio Alhama , particularly of Remains of the Castle, although in ruins, can see quite well what could be its structure.

Above the San Antonio Pena Muslim construction and after the invasion of Cervera in the early seventh century, under the administration of Banu Almost, converted to Islam Visigothic family was when he had built the main part of the Castle on the Rock. He was later rebuilt in the fourteenth century and in the fourteenth century.

Its original construction takes on a longitudinal adjusting its path to the uneven terrain. It consisted of a central core consisting of the keep, rectangular in shape and with a well inside, a long esplanade protected by a wall with a series of cave dwellings, and a second defensive line mode with a second outer barrier pierced cistern in the rock, but now as in the photos veráis its status is something ruionoso, :-) .

In the Castle, and nearby, you can see plenty of caves, which serve as a refuge, once, its occupants

In its current state, they also differ quite well the shapes of the windows and part of the original structure

Finally a few general views of other structures that are seen walking through the wreckage, and overviews of its walls, caves and lower windows below the walls, a sort of rectangles with stones, I do not know they could be, and stone structure, which is my favorite, and the way it could have been a drinker, a seat, or know that, but every time I go, I sit there and breathe the fresh air and tranquility that has that place, and it is great.

  • Hey.
Some very cool photos. It is unfortunate that this castle is not a little restored, should be awesome.
The rocks on which it rests are also a geological wonder, so strange and unique and so beautiful showing tectonic movements.
It is a magical and quiet.
Cervera but do not live in the village of my maternal family, and love it. Greetings.
