Ugh, what can you say after months of inactivity on the blog?, I think little , So without further dedicate myself to write about what the title of the Post describes.
I've written before in other previous posts, as this pot of something that personally always caught my attention, and I sure you had noticed already that the logo of Google is not always the same, it is dynamic, and often , is amended to refer to various events, important events or any circumstances which they consider relevant, of which there have been many over the years , some real works of art .
And that is today's post, the logo that recently we could see on the front page of Google , one of the most curious and dynamic of all time no doubt, and it was dedicated to the famous video game Pacman or Pac Man to so many games I've played, and that certainly could play in Google's own page on the logo created for this purpose.
And after this short introduction of Logo enjoyed enjoy the Pacman Pac Man:
May 22, 1980 - Launch of video game Pac-Man
I also commented that Google usually changes its logo on any significant event occurs, or takes place the celebration of an important event in the development of humanity, or some other circumstance worthy of mention, and that over the years has been many logos , some true works of art .
And that is today's post, the logo we could see yesterday's home page Google , one of the most curious of all time no doubt, and it was dedicated to the birthday of Samuel Morse died in 1872, and born 27 April, 1791, best known as the inventor of the telegraph and the "Morse code" that was developed by Alfred Vail in 1835 while working with Samuel Morse in the invention of the telegraph.
And after this short introduction enjoy this magnificent logo:
April 27, 1791 - Birthday of Samuel Morse
You can see some other logo on this pot .
When it seemed that after the rejection of Microsoft's bid for Yahoo! things could return to a normal situation, a new movement has shaken this quiet again, is that Yahoo! seems to be a very appetizing candy.
Although this time it is not Microsoft, who have already had enough, , But we are talking about another online giant: Google .
And is that Google has reached an advertising agreement with Yahoo! for Google to sell advertising on Yahoo search by placing Adsense in these searches.
This agreement, which will enable Yahoo! to generate an annual opportunity sales up $ 800 million, has an initial term of four years renewable every three years, and show only the results of Google advertising on Yahoo! searches in U.S. and in Canada.
But what really means this agreement?, Because without going deep into details implies many things, and some not so good.
- I hope you are very clear on Yahoo! strategy they want to pursue, because although it appears that the agreement is not very axfisiante, and leaves some leeway Yahoo! when where and how much advertising show, practically this yielding to Google your piece of the pie in terms of online advertising, because how To manage advertising with Yahoo!, being able to do with Google?. Nosé why, but I feel that these have been able Yahoo over their hatred of Microsoft (even when properly evaluate the takeover bid), that the benefits of the agreement.
- Of course, Google is the ultimate beneficiary of this agreement, as Peter would say Grifin in Family Guy, this agreement, for Microsoft is like a "Wham!, Across the mouth"
- If the takeover bid Microsoft to Yahoo!, many said, that in the online advertising pie and only have two competitors, Google and "Microhoo" (to give a name to the resulting company), with this move, Is there no an almost monopolistic online advertising market?, Microsoft thinks so, and so has already complained . Curious that the "king" of monopoly monopoly complain, hehe.
But like Google are not stupid, and they know the punch that have given once have rushed to defend the agreement , noting among other things, that the agreement:
- It is not a merger. But that's just about Yahoo! facilitate access to its technology through AdSense advertising.
- It eliminates a competitor. This means that Yahoo! will continue to participate in the online advertising business, and that despite the agreement, yahoo! technology can use Google as you want, either too much or little.
- Yahoo! does not prevent to reach similar agreements with other companies
- There is an increase in the share of Google in searches
- There will be an increase from Google, the price to advertisers, although this is less clear
Thus, we see that the future offers us regarding the situation of online advertising after the agreement and the trio of companies Google-Yahoo!-Microsoft.
Long ago I wanted to be writing about something that I love about Google, which may seem a mere detail, it's funny and I like: Your logo.
And, as I suppose ye shall have laid down, the logo of Google is not always the same, it is dynamic, and often is modified to refer to different events.
Google usually modify your logo on any significant event occurs, or takes place the celebration of an important event in the development of humanity, or some other circumstance worthy of mention. Obviously, over the years there have been many logos , some true works of art and it would be almost impossible to cover everyone, so the reason for this post is to review those that have come out recently and I personally have liked to see which appear to you and whether or not coincidís me in her beauty, .
And without further ado, let's see logos recently caught my attention most of the celebrations or events that Google considered appropriate to review:
May 15, 2008 - 112 anniversary of the first film screening in Spain (1896,)
16 May 2008 - 48th anniversary of the invention of the laser
June 6, 2008 - Commemoration of the 409 birthday of Spanish painter: Diego Velázquez
What do you like more?
Has recently released a fact, which may never have noticed, and I personally called me tremendously attention.
This is the little-known cost of the home page button on Google :
"Better" or "I'm feeling lucky":
And according to the American Public Media's Marketplace this button, you supposed to Google, a cost of 110 million dollars per year, a figure not negligible, more so when it is a button that although almost everyone knows of its existence, only used by 1% of Google users., or what is the same, only 1% of Google searches are made using the button.
Where does that cost?. Those millions of $ that Google stop sign coming from the actual operation of that button, because if you have not ever used, making that button is that when performing a search on Google if you press the button "I'm Feeling Lucky" takes you directly to the page that ranks first in the ranking of the search results on Google, so stop showing conceptual advertising that appears in the results page using a search normal and therefore the possibility of Google to get that advertising revenues.
So the question that may have one now, is: Why keep that button?. Certainly in the beginning, the cost to keep perhaps not very high, but considering that in recent years Google has increased considerably its advertising revenue, we assumed an increasing cost to maintain that button, when it really does not provide an increase value for the company, tangibly speaking.
For me, the key for which that button is there despite the cost that Google supposed to keep it, is found in the subjective value and brand image that button brings, even that, a single button.
And is that the button has become a kind of icon of Google, and it is there since the emergence of search engine back in 1998, and me personally, I would rarely see the Google page without the button being the google page and is minimalist in itself. That nothing would happen, because users would notice, but would continue to use the browser, totally agree, but for me it would not be original Google page.
And that if it is difficult to brand image, the harder it is to keep it, and since Google has done it would be a shame to disappear.
We'll see if Google thinks the same, and we still see the button for much longer, or disappears some day soon, betting allowed ................
Now that we are in times of Sale, it seems that Google did not want to waste no time and added another company to its "collection" and is to be considered the most powerful brand of 2006 should not be by chance.
In this case it is the telecommunications company Grandcentral which according to Google blog among its services are the ability to forward calls from a fixed to a mobile, union of several numbers in one voice mailbox management, etc., so to see that Google expects to use this company.
And though the news that Google buys a company is not new, and is becoming increasingly commonplace, it would still be worrisome, since this form of growth to hit book, it should not go unnoticed, and seems that their "do not be evil" may be increasingly challenged more because of the level of power that is reaching Google.
A brief review of the most "known" Google has purchased recently. (Via Digital Abbey , you can see the full list here)
- Picasa: Software for editing, archiving and viewing images
- YouTube: online video service: 1.65 billion dollars
- FeedBurner: RSS feeds Management: $ 100 million
- Double Click: Online Advertising: 3.1 billion dollars
- Panoramio: geolocation service, allows you to integrate the photos on Google Earth and Google Maps: $ 6,000,000
Besides many others I have not named, and are available on the link above.
Sure that the list is growing ..........
Curious news which I read in The matte yogurt is that Google does not stop to surprise, not only for your continued development and growth, but by the initiatives undertaken by its employees, as carried out on 22 March with which Google celebrated "alternative transportation day" offering its 2000 European employees a bike for not relying on the car to go to work with a choice of 3 models:
A good initiative, to see when in Spain imposes more bicycle culture.
