New use Google Analytics, "Benchmarking"

The Google Analytics Blog report a new utility of Google Analytics, which you could grow into something useful to companies based much of their Internet activity.

This new utility, called "benchmarking" or "Comparison" in case you have Google Analytics in Spanish, allows you to compare the statistics of your company with the sector it belongs to the company in question. (Provided, of the other companies using Google analytics and also activate this feature)

To enable this feature, once inside your Google Analytics account in the "Users" tab, enable "Benchmarking (Beta)" or if you do it from the English version will be on the tab "Visitors," triggering "Benchmarking ".

Later, according to Google's own web analytics, enable benchmarking, Google Analytics will be shared "anonymously with Google and the benchmarking service" from the configuration page to share data.

What can you say about this new utility?, It is curious that, of course, and to some extent it may be useful, but I can not say much more, since I have not seen the reports offered, except the picture above, and I have no time to activate and check a little use, since they do not need it, but I think nothing more than a mere "toy" with which browse, but without giving a high level of importance to data that can facilitate because when each individual who chooses the category of the sector, the data could be easily alterable simply, someone mistakenly chosen sectors, likewise, that to show you the comparison, one must activate, and use Google analytics, so if a large section, only a few turns it on and use it, as it has not much value, so as curiosity may be fine, but for now, I do not think for a lot more.

If you want more information about this feature please visit the Support Center Google Analytics this section, where they explain more about the use of comparative

Statistics HelloWorld Blog

With the new year, I wanted to do some summary statistics that marked 2007 as other yes they did, but could not be.

And recently, held the 2 years old of HelloWorld Blog on the net I decided resarcirme a bit and today I will show in a reduced and shortened some statistics that have marked these 2 years old, but not too deeply, because for me the statistics are not crucial, but if I find curious, apart from a comprehensive analysis of all options and possibilities offered by Google Analytics would be almost endless, so just put some graphics that you can perhaps be representative and interesting.

1) Number of visits in these 2 years old of existence in the network, :-) :

2) Where are you from?

As shown in the image on the left, and logically, the majority of visits is for Spanish-speaking visitors, mainly from Spain as the largest source of visitors, followed by several South American countries like Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, etc.

In the right image, since Spain is the biggest source of my visits, you can see q ue cities do so in greater numbers.

But that list does not go all that are, or are all that are, :-) , I put a map that makes the most representative Spanish cities I visited this time, at least for guidance, since it does not leave the names of cities, towns, etc.

3) What operating system is the most used by my visitors?

As seen in the picture, there is little surprise, and the result is overwhelming, I will not say logical because it would not be, but being realistic, taking into account the current reality we live in terms of OS, yes it is Predictably, the increased use of Windows, followed by Linux and Mac minority, although I was surprised by the large difference in percentage, and that over 96% of visitors, you did with Windows, so the conclusion seems clear, is not it, :-) .

(Click on the image to enlarge)

4) What browsers are most used by my visitors?

Here the fight is more equal, and plays a little script that expected, because first we have an approximately 53% of visitors accessed through Internet Explorer, a nearly 40% do so through Firefox, and the other alternative browsers by following the logical sequence imagined, ranking as 3rd Opera browser access.

My desire it, that next year that Firefox had more% Explorer, :-) .

(Click on the image to enlarge)

5) What if we combine browser and OS?

The result seems quite logical when you consider the above data, because as you see in the picture, a little more than half, using a combination accedeis Windows / I.Explorer, a nearly 40% the combination you use Windows / Firefox almost 5% prefer the combination Windows / Opera, and what is evident is that those who accedeis with Linux, you do it using Firefox.

Finally, I also find it curious that enter with Mac and you do it with a similar percentage of Firefox or Safari.

(Click on the image to enlarge)

6) Most of you are coming from search engines and specific pages, let's see which

Most visits (over 50%) comes from search engines, being approximately 75% from Google, which makes sense, being that Google has 99% share in Spain, and many services that use the blog, are related to Google, so it is normal that high percentage.

Another important part of the visits (30%) are from web pages, especially "Our Partners" and that eliminating access to the main blog page directly which of course are many of these visits, and also eliminating related pages from Google (Google Images), is that primarily visits from "Our Partners" do it from:

Bicosyes , Cyn's place , Take it slow , Miguel Daza ,

And finally, in closing, I want to comment above, post or categories that have generated more attention over these 2 years old, that removing the main entry page to the blog that have led some 11,900 visits (31.12%), Most liked what has been:

I hope that you will not have seemed very boring post, and I have some curious and interesting result data. :-)

On this occasion, as the images are mine, also benefiting from the license Creative Commons of helloworld blog, except comments which express (as applicable) are excluded images.

The key reserves

Long ago I wanted to have written about, which in my opinion, has been one of the top spot in 2007, of course I had to wait until almost end of the year to enjoy it, is that as is tradition, meant the expected announcement and Freixenet Christmas.

Although this year brought a novelty, and it has not been announced for the classic "Bubbles Freixenet" why so many famous / as have passed since it began airing in 1977. Examples are these:

Liza Minelli (1977), Gene Kelly (1981), Paul Newman (1989), Sharon Stone and Antonio Banderas (1992), Pierce Brosnan (1994), and a large number of familiar faces of our country, as Paz Vega, Pilar Lopez de Ayala, Penelope Cruz, Ainhoa Arteta, Alejandro Sanz, Gabino Diego, etc, etc.

But all that went down in history, is that in 2007 the announcement of Freixenet has shifted its strategy completely radical, with the creation of a great short film directed by Martin Scorsese , which also makes a special tribute the master, Alfred Hitchcock .

The short, lasting approximately 9 minutes, and versions 20 "television, introducing the viewer into the story and was linked to the Website for full viewing, is entitled

"The key reserve" (The key to booking).

The storyline begins when Scorsese is an unpublished script of Hitchcock and decides to shoot it in the context of large and mythical scenes from Hitchcock films making constant references to them. As a man reads the short to Scorsese

Interprets his vision, 3 ½ pages of a script, designed to lead Hitchcock, and do not know how is the rest of the script.

And, as Scorsese says:

One thing is to keep a film made, and another to keep a movie not filmed

Among the great Hitchcock films, fit references to the arguments of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" or "With the North by Northwest," from which is taken from the soundtrack that plays during the spot.

For example, one of the most famous sequences in Hitchcock's filmography is taking place in "The Man Who Knew Too Much" during a concert at the Royal Albert Hall (London) in which a man is killed, this being the Home staging is developed in which the spot, not to mention many other references that are sure to enjoy the most movie buffs and fans of Hitchcock's work, as the end of the spot, with a clear reference to "The Birds" that is sure to many do recognize, by popularity:

If you want to see, not all, do almost all references to the spot Hitchcock's films, with comparative images between the spot and the original scenes from the movies, and a brief explanation of why and the movie is, I recommend visit this blog post: Seventh Heaven , because it's the best I've seen.

You can see the spot on the official website . But you better watch it here, is not it, :-) :

In my opinion, no doubt, this shift in advertising strategy after so long with the "bubble" is risky, because although there is no doubt the quality of the short, and have a figure class as Scorsese, such a sudden change in the way of doing advertising, media and above all, can be dangerous, however good the ad.

Personally, of course I prefer the bubbles, I've always hated, but the point is not that I think best, but if you really, this radical change, at least this year, has helped the objectives had marked the realization of the spot, and has really come to the public it was going, because the bubbles, which more and some less, everyone knew them, but although the visibility of the ad - short of Scorsese has been demonstrated without doubt:

  • Do I really have seen many people?, If not entirely forget that only have seen online and in cinemas (But I'm wrong), not on television.
  • Moviegoers will surely enjoyed it, but what everyone really associate the similarity with Hitchcock and understand the argument?, For the scene of the birds is undoubtedly clear, but what about the rest?, Would not be unreasonable, think that many people saw it, and after seeing it said, "For better," however known to be Mr. Scorsese.

Of course, statistics and data, only known in Freixenet, and though the ad has been brilliant, only they will know if it was worth, I guess this will be discussed later this year with the new ad, if you break radically with the strategy this year, or have some continuity (fundamental aspect of an advertising campaign), but hey, the economic and noneconomic change strategy and the realization of this spot, and its success or failure it tested responsible.

I'll stick with the ad is visually flawless and have a chance to see a little story at the hands of a master, paying homage to another master, :-) .

Be happy.

Spot Renault Megane GT

Lately the blog posts are related to advertisements, and that is that as I have said many times,
there are many bad ads, but there are some that really stands out from the rest by their wits and quickly became a popular ad worldwide.

And that's what happened to the last spot of Renault Megane GT model and that following the departure of Fernando Alonso Mercedes Maclaren had to wring your head for spots where you no longer use his image, a characteristic feature in Renault ads until recently.

Spot is a completely new and different approach to time is often given to car ads, that "all tend to look alike" and really fun, with a catchy version of the famous song "Never ending story" (The Neverending Story) and the introduction of a character as Richard Clayderman , so if you have not had a chance to see not miss the occasion:
