New use Google Analytics, "Benchmarking"

The Google Analytics Blog report a new utility of Google Analytics, which you could grow into something useful to companies based much of their Internet activity.

This new utility, called "benchmarking" or "Comparison" in case you have Google Analytics in Spanish, allows you to compare the statistics of your company with the sector it belongs to the company in question. (Provided, of the other companies using Google analytics and also activate this feature)

To enable this feature, once inside your Google Analytics account in the "Users" tab, enable "Benchmarking (Beta)" or if you do it from the English version will be on the tab "Visitors," triggering "Benchmarking ".

Later, according to Google's own web analytics, enable benchmarking, Google Analytics will be shared "anonymously with Google and the benchmarking service" from the configuration page to share data.

What can you say about this new utility?, It is curious that, of course, and to some extent it may be useful, but I can not say much more, since I have not seen the reports offered, except the picture above, and I have no time to activate and check a little use, since they do not need it, but I think nothing more than a mere "toy" with which browse, but without giving a high level of importance to data that can facilitate because when each individual who chooses the category of the sector, the data could be easily alterable simply, someone mistakenly chosen sectors, likewise, that to show you the comparison, one must activate, and use Google analytics, so if a large section, only a few turns it on and use it, as it has not much value, so as curiosity may be fine, but for now, I do not think for a lot more.

If you want more information about this feature please visit the Support Center Google Analytics this section, where they explain more about the use of comparative

Statistics HelloWorld Blog

With the new year, I wanted to do some summary statistics that marked 2007 as other yes they did, but could not be.

And recently, held the 2 years old of HelloWorld Blog on the net I decided resarcirme a bit and today I will show in a reduced and shortened some statistics that have marked these 2 years old, but not too deeply, because for me the statistics are not crucial, but if I find curious, apart from a comprehensive analysis of all options and possibilities offered by Google Analytics would be almost endless, so just put some graphics that you can perhaps be representative and interesting.

1) Number of visits in these 2 years old of existence in the network, :-) :

2) Where are you from?

As shown in the image on the left, and logically, the majority of visits is for Spanish-speaking visitors, mainly from Spain as the largest source of visitors, followed by several South American countries like Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, etc.

In the right image, since Spain is the biggest source of my visits, you can see q ue cities do so in greater numbers.

But that list does not go all that are, or are all that are, :-) , I put a map that makes the most representative Spanish cities I visited this time, at least for guidance, since it does not leave the names of cities, towns, etc.

3) What operating system is the most used by my visitors?

As seen in the picture, there is little surprise, and the result is overwhelming, I will not say logical because it would not be, but being realistic, taking into account the current reality we live in terms of OS, yes it is Predictably, the increased use of Windows, followed by Linux and Mac minority, although I was surprised by the large difference in percentage, and that over 96% of visitors, you did with Windows, so the conclusion seems clear, is not it, :-) .

4) What browsers are most used by my visitors?

Here the fight is more equal, and plays a little script that expected, because first we have an approximately 53% of visitors accessed through Internet Explorer, a nearly 40% do so through Firefox, and the other alternative browsers by following the logical sequence imagined, ranking as 3rd Opera browser access.

My desire it, that next year that Firefox had more% Explorer, :-) .

5) What if we combine browser and OS?

The result seems quite logical when you consider the above data, because as you see in the picture, a little more than half, using a combination accedeis Windows / I.Explorer, a nearly 40% the combination you use Windows / Firefox almost 5% prefer the combination Windows / Opera, and what is evident is that those who accedeis with Linux, you do it using Firefox.

Finally, I also find it curious that enter with Mac and you do it with a similar percentage of Firefox or Safari.

6) Most of you are coming from search engines and specific pages, let's see which

Most visits (over 50%) comes from search engines, being approximately 75% from Google, which makes sense, being that Google has 99% share in Spain, and many services that use the blog, are related to Google, so it is normal that high percentage.

Another important part of the visits (30%) are from web pages, especially "Our Partners" and that eliminating access to the main blog page directly which of course are many of these visits, and also eliminating related pages from Google (Google Images), is that primarily visits from "Our Partners" do it from:

Bicosyes , Cyn's place , Take it slow , Miguel Daza ,

And finally, in closing, I want to comment above, post or categories that have generated more attention over these 2 years old, that removing the main entry page to the blog that have led some 11,900 visits (31.12%), Most liked what has been:

I hope that you will not have seemed very boring post, and I have some curious and interesting result data. :-)

On this occasion, as the images are mine, also benefiting from the license Creative Commons of helloworld blog, except comments which express (as applicable) are excluded images.
