Like I did with my trip to Stockholm, Sweden, as you can see in this post I collected all the entries that were written about the trip so they were ordered, coy to do the same with my journey through Cantabria and Asturias so you can see All Entries comfortably, so unless you find a photo that I wished to put, and has not since this will be my last post of the trip.

And without further ado, here are the:

Collecting Posts about my trip to Cantabria and Asturias:

Cabarceno Natural Park

Quotes
Santander
Cangas de Onis, Llanes and Ribadesella
The Picos de Europa and Covadonga

And finally, I saved for last, the main town in my vacation stay, and from which went to other places I visited: Santander . And like many things could be said of Santander, and all good, just in time to write much, to read things that are left over the Internet, Guides, books, etc. I will let the rest, and put lots of pictures, :-) But is only a small sample of all the best this beautiful city, I would definitely recommend visiting if you have a chance.

To start a photo of the arcaded square and a statue that is at the entrance

Santander01 Santander02

We can not miss the magnificent Cathedral of Santander

Santander03 Santander04

Also worth taking a long walk from the Playa del Sardinero, by a long way there, and can observe large seascapes, several tiny beaches, Matalenas Park, the golf course, etc., up to the lighthouse. In this walk, simply put a picture of a garden Matalenas Park and a photo that I really like a cliff.

Santander05 Santander06

Three buildings that also deserved my attention was The City Hall, one of which I had heard before: The building of Banco Santander Central Hispano, and finally the impressive Casino de Santander

Santander08 Santander07

Santander10

Reaching the "Piquio Gardens", you are also strange figures of which I discuss only two, :-)

Santander11 Santander12

Although Santander has its port, is not detracting from the small marina known as "Puertochico" which gives a nice view

Santander09

Of course, I could not finish this post without a few pictures of the beach, and although the quality could be better, I think are nicer day so, so enjoy these two snapshots of the Playa del Sardinero

Sardinero01 Sardinero02

And finally, finally, I left a few snapshots of various famous landmarks, including the Palace of the Magadela, the talk in this post , or the bay of Santander, views from a trip on a boat can enjoy from other views, which from the city would not see.

Santander13 Santander14 Santander16

Santander15 Santander17 Santander18

Finally, a brief comment, is that if something good has Santander if do not have much time to visit, is that virtually everything I post is straight, though, taking a loooong walk if you do walk but recommended, or bus, as virtually one line through all those sites.

For me, the ideal is to start at the Sardinero beach, leaving the car in the parking lot of the football stadium of Racing Santander, and start walking along the promenade, reaching dinde Piquio Gardens enjoy a nice view Sardinero Beach.

Following walking, it joins the Avenida de la Reina Victoria, enjoying a nice walk with great views as well as other beaches like Camel Beach, named for a rock that resembles the shape of a camel.

At the end of the Avenue, and move forward towards the center, you have one of the obligatory stops: El Palacio de la Magdalena . Once visited, and returning to the Avenida de la Reina Victoria, on our way, enjoying more beaches, such as Playa de la Magdalena or the dangers beach and nautical club, until the Puerto Chico.

If you still have strength, enlazarás with the famous Paseo de Pereda in which route and nearby, you can enjoy many elements such as Los Jardines de Pereda, Santander Bank Building, arcaded square, the Cathedral, etc..

Everything said in the previous paragraph, is discussed in a very generic, without going too much into detail, to give you an idea of what I have said before, so much of things are very close to each other, but perhaps, to make it walk once too.

Anyway, as I said, there are several buses that go by the tourist areas.

So take what is written as a guide, but it is best to get an idea is to take a shot and see, because I have many things left unnamed.

I hope you have enjoyed the photos, and if you are thinking of making a visit to Santander, not what you think!, I personally liked it.

Be happy

Following the visit we did for Asturias, also popped one day at the Picos de Europa and Covadonga . Our intention had been up too Covadonga Lakes, but the weather was bad so we did, for another time, :-) .

In the Picos de Europa did not stay long and rode a cable car there (Which by the way should sound scary, especially when there is fog), so we were just watching the scenery for a while and went to Covadonga immediately, then a few pictures of the visit, which was quite foggy as you see :-) :

picoseuropa04 picoseuropa05 picoseuropa06

As I said, after the Picos de Europa, we went to Covadonga, although we could not go up to the Lakes, due to bad weather (Incidentally, Nosé if now is always true, but to climb to the Lakes, it seems that we must do it in a bus equipped for that purpose, you can not climb with your vehicle), so we were walking around, enjoying the scenery, and visiting the Monastery and the Virgin of Covadonga. Enjoy the pictures!:

Certainly worth a visit if you have the opportunity, I hope you have enjoyed.

Posted by Ruben in category Cantabria with Comments Off

Continuing with the entries that refer to my vacation, now plays a new community, which is that although most of the time I was in Cantabria, was also a couple of days in Asturias, so today show a few pictures of 3 beautiful locations Asturianas: Cangas de Onis, Llanes and Ribadesella ..

Although I will not be very long, as I could not devote much time to visit each fund, but better than nothing, is not it, :-) . So, let's start with a few pictures of the first one: Cangas de Onis , which highlights the "Roman Bridge" with its beautiful stilted arch and two smaller, making it one of the most visited sites in Cangas:

By land Asturianas, also we approach Ribadesella , municipality known by the now famous Descent of the River Sella , although here we did not stay long, but the impression that caused us was excellent, as shown in the pictures:

Finally, finally, discuss our visit to Llanes , another conocidad Asturian town, and where we could enjoy some delicious "Asturian Fabes" :-) . Apart from its many monuments, walks and landscapes in one of the things that attract the attention of Llanes are the "Cubes of Memory" by the painter Agustín Ibarrola, who painted in various ways the concrete blocks to protect the port, as seen in the pictures:

Continuing with the review of my vacation by Cantabria, already started in some previous posts, hot it's the turn of the municipality of Comillas , one of the most representative of Cantabria and almost a must if you're in the area. As the excess over the Internet is documentation, not lengthen much specific details, and try to be brief, so I'll start putting some photos of the , Which incidentally in Cantabria, the only beach that was bathed in Comillas, since in Santander, I was on the beach but without bathing:

Comillas01 Comillas02

Another unique attraction of Comillas, and for sure will indicate in the Office of Tourism, is the Capricho de Gaudi building custom built by Máximo Díaz de Quijano, brother of the Marquis of Comillas, next Sobrellano Palace, residence of the latter .

The order was carried out in 1883 by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí, which endowed him with some oriental touch and the original purpose of being a summer residence, but is now a restaurant.

As I commented a while ago, Gaudí Palace was next, another of the architectural icons of the town of Comillas: Sobrellano Palace , designed by architect Joan Martorell in 1878 commissioned by the first Marquis of Comillas D. Antonio López y López. Enjoy it, a few pictures:

And finally, to finish and with the post, put a "medley of several photos" among which the first two, which refer to the Cemetery of Comillas whose facade is from 1983 cultural interest of Cantabria in whose height we can see the Exterminating Angel known sculpture:

After beginning the overview of my trip to Cantabria, this holiday talking Cabárceno natural Paque , today it is the turn of the Peninsula de la Magdalena, located in Santander, on Avenida de la Reina Fabiola, next to the beach Sardinero.

With an area of about 24 hectares and large green areas and gardens, we can see the Royal Palace, donated in 1912 as a summer resort of Alfonso XIII can also visit the old stables, the three ships used by Vital Alsar recalling the trip across the Pacific of Francisco de Orellana , as well as several beaches and a small zoo with seals, sea lions and penguins.

Similarly, it is possible to take a guided tour in a small train, but I think it's more entertaining walk walk. Finally enjoy a few pictures:

Like I did with my trip to Stockholm , I will dedicate a few posts to put a picture of my trip to Cantabria this holiday. And to start, I'll do with a few pictures of Cabarceno Natural Park , but neither will be very large, since it would put a lot of pictures, :-) , And it is best to visit to enjoy all the beautiful scenery and animals.

For those who do not know, comment briefly that Cabarceno Natural Park, located about 17 km from Santander, is a large area of over 700 hectares on the remains of an old mining that make addition to enjoying all animal species which houses (Lions, tigers, gorillas, ostriches, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, panthers, lions, birds of prey, reptiles, elephants, hippos, etc, etc), we can see impressive rock figures, landscapes and lakes while go around the entire ecinto.

Certainly a nice outing, it's worth doing, if only once, even if you can, it would be advisable to go early and dates on which it is likely fewer people, and during the week, because if there are many people, taking into note that we recommend a visit to the park by car, due to its size, makes it slower and overwhelming visit. Personally if it was me, just had people, and it rained, so it was a pretty pleasant visit. Finally we also comment throughout the day made exhibitions with Lions and Birds of Prey, which are pretty cool, especially the Raptors. And without further ado, I leave you with some pictures.
