Santander

And finally, I left for last, the main town of residence of my vacation, and from which went to other places I visited: Santander . And as I may say many things of Santander, and all good, just in time to write much, that reading is more than enough things online, Guides, books, etc. I will let down the rest and put a lot of pictures, :-) But only be a small sample of what's on offer this beautiful city, I definitely recommend visiting if you have a chance.

To begin a photo of the arcaded square and a statue that is at the entrance

Santander01 Santander02

We can not miss the magnificent Cathedral of Santander

Santander03 Santander04

Also worth taking a long walk from the beach Sardinero a long way there and can see large seascapes, several tiny beaches, Mataleñas Park, the golf course, etc., up to the lighthouse. In this walk, I'll simply a picture of a garden Mataleñas Park and a photo that I like a cliff.

Santander05 Santander06

Three buildings also deserved my attention were the City Hall, one of which had heard before: The building of the Banco Santander Central Hispano, and finally the impressive Casino de Santander

Santander08 Santander07

Santander10

Reaching the "Gardens of Piquio", you are also with strange figures of which I discuss only two, :-)

Santander11 Santander12

Although Santander is its port, is not detracting from the small marina known as "Puertochico" which gives a nice view

Santander09

Of course, I could not finish this post without some pictures of the beach, and although the quality could be better, I think so nicer day, so enjoy these two snapshots of the Playa del Sardinero

Sardinero01 Sardinero02

And finally, finally, I made a few snapshots of various landmarks such as the Palace of the Magadela, the talk in this post , or the Bay of Santander, viewed from a trip on a boat can enjoy from other views, which from the city would not see.

Santander13 Santander14 Santander16

Santander15 Santander17 Santander18

Finally, a brief comment, is that if something good has Santander if you do not have much time to visit is that almost everything I put in a straight line is, yes, taking a walk if you do laaaaaargo walk , but recommended, or bus, as virtually one of the lines through all those sites.

For me, the ideal is to start at the Playa del Sardinero, leaving the car at the football stadium parking Racing Santander, and start walking along the promenade, reaching dinde Piquio gardens enjoy a nice view of Sardinero Beach.

Following walking, is linked to the Avenida de la Reina Victoria, enjoying a nice walk with excellent views, as well as other beaches such as Playa del camel, named for a rock that resembles the shape of a camel.

At the end of the Avenue, and movement towards the center, you have one of the stops on: The Palacio de la Magdalena . After visiting, and returning to the Queen Victoria Avenue, on our way, enjoying more beaches, including Playa de la Magdalena or the beach hazards, and the Yacht Club to get to Puerto Chico.

If you still have strength, enlazarás with the famous Paseo de Pereda in whose route and nearby you can enjoy a multitude of items such as Los Jardines de Pereda, the Santander Bank Building, Plaza Porticada, Cathedral, etc..

Everything said in the previous paragraph, is discussed in a very generic, without going into too much detail to give you an idea of what I have said before, that a lot of things, are very close to each other, although perhaps, to make walking once too.

Anyway, as I said, there are several buses going by the tourist areas.

So take what is written as a guide, but best to get an idea, is to catch a plane and see it, because I have many things left unnamed.

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures, and if you are thinking about a visit to Santander, not what you think!, Personally I liked it.

Be happy

The Picos de Europa and Covadonga

Following our visit to Asturias, one day we get closer to the Picos de Europa and Covadonga . Our intention had been to raise also the Lagos de Covadonga, but bad weather, so we did not, for another time, :-) .

The Picos de Europa were not long or rode a cable car there (Which by the way must sound scary, especially when there is fog), so I just stayed a while watching the scenery and then we went to Covadonga then a few photos of the visit, which as you see there was enough fog :-) :

picoseuropa04 picoseuropa05 picoseuropa06

As I said, after the Picos de Europa, we went to Covadonga, although we could not go to the Lakes, due to bad weather (BTW, idk if now is always true, but up to the Lakes, it appears that must be done in buses authorized for this purpose, you can not come up with your vehicle), so we were walking around, enjoying the scenery, and visiting the Monastery and the Virgin of Covadonga. Enjoy the pictures!:

No doubt worth a visit if you have opportunity, hope you like them.

Llanes, Asturias - Llanes - Ribadesella

Continuing with the entries that refer to my vacation, today we have a new community, is that although most of the time I was in Cantabria, I was also a couple of days Asturias, so today will show a few pictures of 3 beautiful locations Asturianas: Cangas de Onis, Llanes and Ribadesella ..

Although I will not be very long, since I could not devote much time to visit each fund, but better than nothing, right?, :-) . So let's start with a few pictures of the first one: Cangas de Onis , which highlights the "Roman Bridge" with its beautiful stilted arch and two smaller, making it one of the most visited sites in Cangas:

For Asturian land, we also approached Ribadesella , municipality known for the now famous Sella Descent of the River , although we were not here long, but the impression was that caused us unbeatable, as shown in the photographs:

Ribadesella02 Ribadesella03 Ribadesella01

Finally, finally, comment on our visit to Llanes , another conocidad Asturian town, and where we could enjoy a rich "Asturian Beans" :-) . Apart from its many monuments, walks and landscapes, one of the things that attract the attention of Llanes are the 'Cubes of Memory, "painted by Agustin Ibarrola, who painted in various ways the concrete blocks that protect the harbor, as shown in the photographs:

Quotes

And continuing with the review of my holiday in Cantabria, which already started in some previous posts, hot it is the turn to the town of Comillas , one of the most representative of Cantabria and almost a must if you're in the area. As the excess over the Internet is documentation, I do not lengthen much concrete detail, and try to be brief, so I'll start putting some photos of the Which, incidentally, in Cantabria, the only beach where I was bathed in quotes, as in Santander, I was on the beach but without bathing:

Comillas01 Comillas02

Another characteristic place of Comillas, and sure you indicate in the Office of Tourism, is the Capricho de Gaudi building custom built by Maximo Diaz de Quijano, brother of the Marquis of Comillas, near Sobrellano Palace, residence of the latter .

The order was carried out in 1883 by the famous architect Antoni Gaudí, who endowed him with a certain oriental touch and the original purpose of being a summer residence, but is now a restaurant.

As I commented a while ago, the Palace of Gaudi was next, another of the architectural icons of the town of Comillas: Sobrellano Palace , designed by architect Joan Martorell in 1878 by order of the Marquis of Comillas D. Antonio Lopez y Lopez. Enjoy it, a few photos:

And finally, to finish and with the post, put a "potpourri of several photos" among which the first two, which refer to Comillas Cemetery since 1983 whose facade is of cultural interest of Cantabria in the height of which we can see the Exterminating Angel known sculpture:

Magdalena Peninsula

After starting the review of my trip to Cantabria, this vacation talking about natural Paque Cabárceno , today it is the turn of the Peninsula de la Magdalena, located in Santander, on Avenida de la Reina Fabiola, next to the Beach Sardinero.

With an area of about 24 hectares and large green areas and gardens, we can see the Royal Palace, donated in 1912 as a summer retreat of Alfonso XIII can also visit the stables, the three ships used by Vital Alsar recalling the trip across the Pacific of Francisco de Orellana , and several beaches and a small zoo with seals, sea lions and penguins.

Similarly, it is possible to take a guided tour in a small train, but I think it's more fun to walk on foot. Finally Enjoy a few pictures:
